Full description

A pillbox is believed to have once stood on the W bank of the Horsemill Stream, presumably as protection for the Royal Gunpowder Mills 50 yards to the E. Shown on the 2500:1 map as a distinct hexagonal it was probably demolished as part of the Lee Valley Country Park development. However, it is still possible to see the remains of concrete and rubble beneath an overgrown heap on the W side of a drainage channel running parallel to the river. One photo of site. <1>

Site Management: = The area around the site is managed as a country park.
