An aerial photograph taken in 1946 shows a rectangular pillbox with short blast wall at this point. <1> This is confirmed by a local survey in 1979 which describes it as "rectangular, concrete pillbox, facing E". <2> It was demolished, or buried, when the A12 Chelmsford by-pass was constructed in 1987.
