Full description

Standing 50 yards to the NE of the minefield control tower, at the W end of the moat around Coalhouse Fort, is a small concrete building - clearly of WWII vintage. It is generally 5'6" high x 7' x 9' and contains one chamber measuring 4' x 5'. The remains of iron hinges show that there was once a door to the room. Inside there are three notched wooden racks attached to the walls and a number of square holes in the floor. The building may have been constructed to house the minefield cabling junction boxes which would have been mounted on the wall racks - the cabling being channelled via the notches and routed out through the floor holes. Two photos of site. <1>
