It is reliably reported that a pillbox stood on the Greensward opposite the end of Second Avenue. It was known as "Thatched Cottage". This is a probable reference to its location near the thatched building - now a shelter/public convenience - which stands at the S end of the Greensward between Frinton Golf Club and the sea wall. <1>
