Summary

A pillbox standing on the cliff edge to the N of Frinton.

Full description

1995: An aerial photograph taken in 1960 shows the clear shape of a pillbox standing on the cliff edge to the N of Frinton. <1> It was basically an FW3/22 hexagonal pillbox with an anti-aircraft well built onto the rear, landward side.

January 2010: This pillbox can also be seen on an aerial photograph taken in July 1946. <2> Nothing of it now survives. The area is greensward between The Leas and the cliff edge. An overlay of modern map and 1946 aerial photograph shows that the exact position of the pillbox would now be half on and half off the cliff.
