Full description

"Defending Harwich and Dovercourt in WW2" records that a pillbox once stood at the junction of Halfacre Lane and Low Road, by the corner of the Harwich School field. <1> The dug-out remains of this pillbox can be seen in aerial photographs taken in 1946 and 1948 immediately behind the anti-tank wall and anti-tank ditch of the Stanier Line. The anti-tank wall still survives. <2> <3> An aerial photograph taken in 1960 shows it to have been removed by that date. <4>
