Full description
On the E corner of Main Road and Blacksmith's Lane is Dovercourt All Saints Church of England (Aided) Primary School. Following the corner around, behind which is the school parking area, is a brick and concrete wall. During WWII, a pillbox was constructed in this area using the wall as the front face. From the rear, the concreted-over loopholes can still be made out and the remains of re-inforcement rods can be seen. An aerial photograph taken in 1946 shows this pillbox. It is an elongated shape following the line of the curved corner. <1 Two photos of site. <2
