Full description

At the N end of Marine Parade, opposite Orwell Road, three pillboxes stood side-by-side. They covered an area of perhaps 20 yards between Marine Parade and the clifftop overlooking the promenade and beach to the SW. From NW to SE they were a 75mm gun emplacement, a pillbox with anti-aircraft well and a pillbox. They were demolished around 1989/90. <1> The shape of these pillboxes can be seen on a 1:1250 map dated 1969. <2>
