Summary

Pillbox (destroyed)

Full description

A plan of the wartime defences along the seafront at Clacton-on-Sea (see SMR 21178) shows a pillbox, annotated ‘C’, on the path through the clifftop gardens a few yards SE of the pond which stood here. A number of camouflaged structures can be made out on 1941 aerial photographs but nothing significant can be determined at this point. By July 1946 the pillbox had clearly been demolished as nothing shows on an aerial photograph of that date. <2> <3>
