Summary
Pillbox (destroyed)
Full description
A plan of the wartime defences along the seafront at Clacton-on-Sea (see SMR 21178) shows a pillbox, annotated ‘F’, where a breakwater joins the promenade. <1>
A July 1941 aerial photograph is unclear while a July 1946 aerial photograph shows the pillbox to have gone by that date. <2> <3>
An OS map dated 1990 shows the outline of a half-hexagonal here, probably the surviving half of its concrete base. In January 2007, the seawall has now been reconfigured and nothing of this base remains to be seen. <4>
