Full description
Contemporary records state, ‘Concrete pillbox and sandbagged weapon pit S.E. corner. Summerhouse Farm, Jaywick Lane, O.S. No. 254. Map ref. 600334’. (Mil. Ed.) <1>
Field O.S. No. 254 lay to the E of Jaywick Lane and this pillbox can be clearly seen on an aerial photograph taken in July 1946. <2> It stood on the E side of the field, almost certainly a Type FW3/22 with a surrounding ‘skirt’. An aerial photograph taken in June 1960 shows it to have been demolished by then and the area is now an open recreational field. <3>
