Full description
<1> refers to the discovery of many human bones 'some forty years ago' (ie about the 1860s) when the meadow to the north of Hooks Green moat [807] was turned into allotments. Traditionally, the site of the moat has been said to be the second site occupied by the medieval Hospital of St Mary Magdalene, and Andrews suggests this may have been the hospital cemetery. However, this is not the case; for the hospital, see [13405].
The NGR is the approximate centre point of the allotments shown on <2>.
