Full description
A test pit in a field behind West End Lane, near Burge End Lane, yielded 'substantial quantities of pottery (18 sherds from 4 spits) dating to 1100-1400 AD, strongly suggestive of the presence of settlement in this area in this period'. Two sherds of St Neots ware (AD 900-1200) were also present <1, 2>. A test pit dug in the SE corner of the same field in 2008 produced another sherd of St Neots ware <3>.
