Full description
The site of Pingel's Gate, which led into the royal deer park [4099], 'can be clearly identified where the public footpath enters the park' <1, 2>. 'Significant' lynchets mark this western park boundary, which is also the parish boundary. The park was laid out from the 1270s and by the early 14th century it was fenced, with gates.
