Full description
A homestead moat measuring 85m E-W and c.65m N-S with arms 10-16m wide. Most of the N arm destroyed by driveway, the rest 2 m deep and lawned <1>. Little to add to OS report. Handsome house of c.1800 in middle of this impressive and largely intact moat. To SW the interesting scheduled moated mound [43] <2>.
What the relationship is between the two moats is unclear; [43] is possibly a post-medieval garden feature relating to the Parsonage [30423]. Alongside are more earthworks, classified as fishponds [16819].
For a 13th century pit within the moated area, see [31539].
