Full description

Circular moated mound c.22.25m in diameter overall; mound rising c.3.5m above water level <1>. Moat ditch c.7m wide with causeway on the SE side. Possible mill mound or ornamental feature. Informal excavation revealed that the original feature was shallow <2>.
After inspection, it is clear that this is a windmill mound, not a moated site <3>. It lies on high ground.
An evaluation trench dug in 2016 just to the north revealed part of a ditch running north-south, and a pit. Although the pit contained a little worn animal bone there was nothing to date either feature <4>.
