Full description
Barrow, 1.6m high. Diameter varies between 40m and 46m. The north side of the mound has been damaged by the construction of a bunker for the former golf course <1>. The field name is Barrow Field <1>.
The barrow stands on the crest of a hill overlooking the river Lea, crossed by the boundary between the historic parishes of Great and Little Amwell. Now surrounded by housing, the barrow is large and has never been excavated. Its prehistoric date is likely but unconfirmed. It may also have been used for a post-medieval beacon [4001].
