Full description
A former level crossing keepers cottage at King John's Bank. The crossing was on part of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway line between Spalding and King's Lynn, this part of which opened in 1864. The cottage is depicted on the 2nd edition 25" Ordnance Survey County Series map. It would have been built to a standardised design that appeared on all the manned crossings of the Sutton Bridge to King's Lynn stretch of the larger line. The cottage is no longer extant, very likely being demolished in the mid 20th century during the widening of the A17 road, following the closure of the railway line in March 1959. {1}{2}{3}
