There are entries for Lutton (Luctone) in the Domesday Book. There was land held there by earl Algar, and the King (who also owned a fishery there). The Manor of the King also held land in Tydd (Tite). {1}
During a watching brief at TF 433 254 a medieval ditch which contained hand made brick fragments was recorded. The watching brief also revealed the remains of a post-medieval silted up watercourse or roddon channel. {2}{3}
During a watching brief at TF 433 254 a sherd of 12th-14th century Bourne A ware and two sherds of 9th 12th century Stamford ware was recorded. A post medieval ditch and drains were also recorded. {4}{5}
During a watching brief on land adjacent to Lowgate Lutton TF 4345 2558 a medieval pit containing a 12th to 14th century pot sherd and a medieval to early post medieval ditch containing a 13th to 14th century pot sherd were uncovered. {4}{5}
