The monument includes the base, comprising three steps and a socket stone, the shaft, knop and head of a limestone cross, located to the south-east of the south porch. The cross is medieval in origin with modern additions, all of limestone. For a full decription see Scheduling Document 22710. {4}

The memorial was unveiled in 1920 to honour the First World War fallen but further names have since been added to commemorate the Second World War dead. The memorial is a restored medieval stone cross. As a result the extended tapered shaft had a new calvary added and inscriptions cast on small brass tablets were fixed to the square stepped base. {5}
