Full description
A house was originally built on this site by Sir William Pelham in 1603 but the present house probably dates to 1710. Legend has it that Buckingham House was used as a model, Brocklesby Hall being a refined brick oblong, with nine by six bays, three storeys high, with a parapet. Its post 18th century architectural history is complicated and was nearly all swept aside by a fire in the late 19th century and restoration by Claude Phillimore in 1945. Stables lie to the east of the hall. There is a conservatory to the west (PRN 55662). North west of the conservatory is the orangery. The hall is the seat of the Earls of Yarborough. {1}{2}
Brocklesby Hall is a Grade I Listed Building which is a large country house, dating from probably the 16th century. It was altered before 1708 and remodelled in about 1730. The house was severely damaged by fire in 1898, then restored by Sir Reginald Blomfield, and reduced in size and altered in the 20th century by Phillimore. {5}
