PRN 50557
An extensive scatter of Roman material, mostly of the third and fourth centuries AD, with a few first and second century finds. Possibly representing a small settlement or villa site. Finds include:- stone slabs observed at SK963746 approx. {2}
Concentrations of pottery, mostly greyware of third and fourth century AD found in 1964 at SK96357469, SK96297458 and SK96447448. {1}{9}
A worn coin of Constantinian found in 1973 at SK96367440. {3}{6}
At least 44 coins; a few sherds of greyware and colour-coated pottery; 1 bronze brooch; 1 silver brooch fragment; 1 bronze hair pin; 1 bronze casket fitting; 1 lead plumb bob; 2 bronze nails or tacks; iron and bronze rings; 1 bronze nail-cleaner; various bronze fittings - found in an area centred on SK963748. {4}
An enamelled disc brooch found in 1979 in an area centred on SK963748. {5}

Fieldwaking in 2003 recorded several types of Roman pottery. These included two sherds of Samian ware, a single sherd of Samian ware, several sherds of Shelly Ware, Colour Coated Ware and Greyware. Fifty pieces of tessera were found as was a piece of wall plaster. {10}
