Full description

The Church of St Mary the Virgin was part of the Benedictine Abbey of Stow, which was founded in 1005 for secular canons, and refounded in 1091. It is still the parish church. Under the church are the remains of previous churches, and the ground around it is scheduled. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}{6}

A church built in c.1034 to 1049 which was restored in c.1090, c.1150, c.1170, the 13th and the early 15th century. The chancel was restored in 1850 to 1852 and the remainder of the church was restored in 1864 to 1867.
