Full description
PRN 60646
During excavation in advance of a housing development a single almost complete Neolithic vessel was found in isolation. The pot was identified as of the Peterborough Ebbsfleet type. Sparse burnt bone fragments were found nearby and it is suggested that these represent a human cremation interred within the pot. However only a few grams of burnt bone were retrieved from the excavation of the vessel in the laboratory. The Neolithic pit is the only one of the type on the site and seems to represent a single isolated event. {1}{2}
In addition a fragment of polished stone axe and a few isolated flints were found scattered across the area. {1}{2}
