SECTION OF THE CAR DYKE WHICH HAS BEEN ALTERED BY PONDS AND COMPLETE SECTION ACROSS THE CAR DYKE IS NOT CLEARLY VISIBLE BECAUSE THE EARTHWORKS ARE CONFUSED. THE EARTHWORKS SURVIVE TO c1.0M HIGH IN PART. SEE 60706 FOR THE GENERAL RECORD FOR THE CAR DYKE. {1}{2}{3}, AREA 2H, HTM 4M
The base of a Romano-British grey ware cooking pot was found in the black silt on the bed of the Car Dyke. A recent dyke cut through the Car Dyke at this point (section drawn 5/12/1971, CMW). {4}
