HER Number:MLI91102
Type of record:Find Spot

Summary

Unidentified antler object found at Silk Willoughby (unlocated)

Parish:SILK WILLOUGHBY, NORTH KESTEVEN, LINCOLNSHIRE

Full description

PRN 65130
An unidentified antler object was found somewhere in Silk Willoughby (no location is given for the findspot). It was originally suggested that it was probably part of the handle of an 18th century riding crop. However, it was later noticed that it was similar to several later Saxon or Viking period finds from York. It is thought that it could have been used during rope splicing, although this is a tentative suggestion. {1}
