Full description

PRN 13937
The former Primitive Methodist Chapel appears to be disused. The date tablet is defaced but documentary sources suggest that the chapel may have been built in 1839. The front (south) elevation has 2 flat-headed windows at the upper level but the original openings at the lower level have been replaced by 'garage' doors. The windows of the north elevation have coloured glass in the margin lights.The Sunday School is a separate, single-storeyed, building of red brick, with gault brick dressings, lying behind, and to the west, of the chapel. The date tablet is also obscured but a Sunday School is recorded by Thompson in 1856.The gabled front of the Sunday School originally had 3 bays but the original openings have been altered by the insertion of 'garage' doors. The chapel closed in 1947. It appears to be used as a workshop or store.{1}{2}{3}{4}{5}
