This doorway dates to the 13th or early 14th century and is reset in a garden wall on the castle site. It is shown on a map of 1833. {1}
This structure is a small pointed arched 14th century gateway with a short section of castle wall. It is constructed of 'Barnack Rag' stone, and is a postern gate of the castle (PRN 30668). For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2}
This small 14th century gateway is probably a postern gate to the castle. If it has not been moved, it establishes the line of the castle wall. {3}
