Full description
Grade II listed small country house, dating from the 17th century and altered in 1830. It is coursed ironstone and limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and quoins and has a hipped slate roof with lead dressings and two moulded stone ridge stacks. On the east front is a copy of an elaborate late 16th century porch, but it is probably of 1830 date, (cf. Harlaxton Manor). The arms of de Ligne family is above in a strapwork cartouche. Syston Old Hall, Syston. Extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of U plan. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. Located within a Church and/or Manor farm group. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {2}
