Full description

A parish church built in 1753 from limestone ashlar. Its west front has a central Tuscan doorway with flanking half columns supporting entablature and pediment. An inner round headed doorway has a Tuscan pilastered surround, moulded head and raised keystone inscribed with 1753. The church's interior features date from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries and includes a number of monuments. The present church is Georgian, but is believed to stand on the site of an earlier, probably medieval, church that occupied a small knoll or eminence above the Witham flood plain. {2}
