Full description

Cropmark site, field on E side of Ermine Street, just S of the section of the Roman road exposed in 1970, (SE 94531757). Cropmarks show course of Roman road running along E side of present street, with indications of flanking ditches. Series of 2 or 3 rectangular features extending up to 70m. E of present street and aligned at right angles to it at SE 945 174. Area c. 1ha. (DNR obl. 1971; SM, RX/07). [1]

SE 94531757. A small number of Romano-British sherds including an amphora body sherd and one mortarium rim, found when a water main was laid across the line of Ermine Street in 1970. The finds are now in Scunthorpe Museum. [15, 16]
