Full description
'Site of Saxon Manor (Tyrwhitt Hall)' was scheduled in January 1984, under Section 1 of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act, 1979. No monument description was forwarded to the County Archaeologist at that time. [1]
The site was evaluated by the English Heritage Regional Inspector in February 1996, when an extension to the scheduled area was recommended. No action was taken at that time, but a copy of the Inspector's report was copied to the North Lincolnshire Sites & Monuments Record. It includes a revised version of the original (1984) Inspector's report. [2]
As of 2011, the scheduled monument still has no list entry description on the online National Heritage List. [3]
The scheduled area forms part of the western area of a Middle Saxon or Anglo-Danish defended enclosure. See HER 17906 for a summary of the archaeological investigations relating to the wider monument. [4]
This site was listed in the gazetteer section of desk-based assessments in 2005, 2006 and 2008. [5 - 8]
