1) Apart from statements by Leland & Camden (b1 & 2) & references in reign of Henry III, no particulars of the existence of a castle can be found. Does not appear in manorial documents. If castle existed, was dismantled at an early date (b4).
2) Last remains demolished in civil wars (b3). & see b6 & b8.
