In 1962 in playing fields north of Pull's Ferry four sherds of Thetford Ware were recovered in hard dark material around 3m deep, situated within a possible 'hovel' structure of possible Late Saxon date.

Full description
1962. Playing fields north of Pull's Ferry. Inside the Cathedral Close.
Four sherds of Thetford Ware found in dark hard material around 10ft (3m) deep within possible 'hovel'. Wood set like tepee. [1]
