Full description

PART OF THE PRESUMED ROMAN ROAD LINKING SHERBURN WITH SCARBOROUGH. IT CONTINUES AS (00) AND HAS HAD TRIAL TRENCHES CUT ACROSS ITS ROUTE. A LINE RUNNING ACROSS FIELDS NORTH OF AYTON CASTLE WAS RECORDED IN WINTER 1926. J.W. MOORE'S EXCAVATION IN 1951 AT WYKEHAM GRAVELS REVEALED NO ROAD.
