Full description

A Grecian style mansion which belonged to the Scrope family in the mid 15th century. In 1463 licence was granted to celebrate mass in the chaple or oratory there.

The hall comprises a rectangular block in the Classical style with an older west wing and a small modern court on the west. An embattled tower of three storeys and 45ft square is the oldest part still standing. The building is simialr in design to the 15th century Mortham Tower. Now demolished (1).
