Full description

THIS WAS FOUNDED ABOUT 1130 AND DESTROYED IN 1176 AFTER THE MOWBRAY BIGOD REBELLION. LITTLE REMAINS OF THIS SHORT LIVED CASTLE SITE BEYOND A LENGTH OF SPREAD RAMPART AND A SLIGHT MOUND WHICH MAY BE THE SITE OF THE KEEP. MOST OF THE AREA HAS BEEN DISTURBED OR DESTROYED BY DEVELOPMENT/LANDSCAPING. Excavated by: FAA (1973) Form: Earthwork (11/1981)(1)
