Summary

Large sub-rectangular water-filled moat, interior now empty. Nether Worton House (PRN 4739) immediately outside moat; garden partly cut into island.

  • Description

    (1) Printed as an antiquity on OS maps
    (2) Probably ornamental feature of C17 or C18.
    (3) Not associated with PRN 9289. This moat is 8-10' higher than the probable manorial one (PRN 9289) and appears to be wholly ornamental - C17th or C18th. It is fed by a complicated leat which runs into the west arm and by an arrangement of sluice and waterfall is returned to the brook east of the church. A doubtful antiquity
