Description

A central row of stone post pads were found 3m intervals. This is the only evidence of the internal layout of the stable block. A fragment of an ivory figurine of the virgin and child, dated to the late 14th century was also recovered and fragments of what appear to be a 14th century tomb canopy. Some are carved and/or painted and/or gilded. All possible evidence that the stable area was used as a dump for post dissolution abbey material <1>.
