Roman coins, bronze implements, pins and a needle (probably Roman), iron objects and medieval remains ( including medieval coins?) found in the ruins of Red Castle and now in the possession of Lady Stanier, The Citadel. <1b>
The precise sites of the finds could not be established. OS FI 1962 <1><1c>
[Marginal] Bronze implements, variously described as 'four....socketed celts, three palstaves and one spearhead found near the Red Castle (1) [SJ 52 NE 3] and '...in the ruins of Red Castle... a hoard of the late Bronze Age, comprising 2 looped palstaves, 4 socketed axes, and a tongue-shaped object that may be an ingot of metal'.. are in the possession of Sir Alexander Stanier, The Citadel, Weston. <2>
