Description
A mound removed in 1873 to make way for a house. It was 12ft high and consisted almost entirely of gravel and no finds were made. About 40m to the east of SA 1008 a house, probably that erected in 1873 stands upon an area of levelled, made up ground, which could well be the base of a destroyed mound, probably a..round barrow. OS FI 1973 <1>
A number of artefacts have been recovered in the vicinity (PRN 00879; 00884; 01008), which were said to have come from a mound. This does not appear to have been this mound but was perhaps a smaller subsidiary earthwork nearby. <2>
