Description

In 1789 earth removed from the top of Wyle Cop when the street was lowered (site 60133) was deposited at the bottom of Wyle Cop, at the end of the bridge, to raise the levels there [<1>]; this had happened before, prior to 1758, when the level had been raised by about 7 feet (2.13m) [<2>]. In 1775 the bridge approach was raised [<3>].
