Site identified by Marches Uplands Mapping Project <1><2><3>
Unit 1:- A potential enclosure of unknown date, seen as an earthwork, and mapped from poor quality aerial photographs. The site appears as a complete, oval enclosure, 55m x 45m, defined by 1 bank, and is located at SJ 2754 3040.EH Author: CAD. Date: 16/08/93.<4>
SJ 2754 3040. A subcircular or oval enclosure is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs and has been mapped by RCHME's Marches Uplands Mapping Project. The enclosure is defined by a single bank 55m x 45m. Its date is uncertain, but it is very similar in appearance to a Medieval ringwork 1000m to the north, known as Castell Brogyntyn (SJ 23 SE 6). The 1999 GIS AP shows a complex of drainage ditches surrounding the enclosure. The drainage ditches are likely to be associated with the late 19th century reservoir to the north. The construction of the resovoir also appears to correspond with the enlargement of the field in which the enclosure sits. <6>
