Description
Recognition of the town wall at the rear of No 7 Pride Hill, during the rebuilding of Boot s premises in 1906, reported by R E Davies. Claimed as part of the Norman wall connected to a sally port Davies also reported an arched passageway ... traced for 30 feet towards Pride Hill, where, no doubt, stood a strong gateway [<1>]. This interpretation was obviously coloured by Drinkwater' s inner town wall thesis [<2>], but what was actually seen is unclear <3>
