Description

It has been suggested that the western defences of the hillfort may have been adopted as part of Offa’s Dyke, the 8th century linear earthwork which defined the boundary of the kingdom of Mercia. The precise course of the dyke through Llanymynech is unknown although further to the south, around Four Crosses, it survives as an impressive earthwork <1>
