Description
Wattlesborough contained 20 tenants in 1300 and 29 in 1379. There were 5 Wattlesborough tax-payers in 1542, but by 1715 the Castle was the only house on the site of the former hamlet. Ridge and furrow can be seen in the fields to the S and SW of the Hall. <1>
A field to the east, adjacent to the driveway to Wattlesborough Hall is identified as 'Market Piece' on the tithe map of 1847. <2>
