Summary
Aston Eyre Hall, a farmstead first identified and classified by the Historic Farmsteads Characterisation Project, 2008 – 2010, (ESA6427), largely from the digital version of the c.1900 OS large scale mapping. After the manor passed to the Actons [in the mid 16th century] it seems that Aston Eyre Hall ceased to be a prestigious home and instead became a tenanted farm.

After the manor passed to the Actons [in the mid 16th century] it seems that Aston Eyre Hall ceased to be a prestigious home and instead became a tenanted farm. <2>
A watching brief was carried out between August and October 2014 on service trenching to the E of the Old Hall. Extensive disturbance was noted across this area, associated with the conversion of the hall site to agricultural use. Much of the brick and rubble buried on the site was interpreted as deriving from demolition of agricultural buildings built between 1840 and 1883. <3>
A number of the buildings comprising the farm were dated by dendrochronology comissioned as part of a Time Team programme. See child records for further information. <4>
