Description
Illustrated by Bellett <1a>
The gate arch shown is a simple type and could be either C14 or C15, but is perhaps unlikely to be C13. The gatehouse appears to be a simple rectangular building, with chambers on each side of the entrance passage <2>
The eastern arch was 15ft 5ins high to the top, and 18ft 10ins high on west. 10ft 1ins wide. Large doors loosed down in the niches of the stonework into the entrance. Demolished 1821 <4>
