Description

Stood almost at the east extremity of Listley St, and on the south side <1a>
The date and function of this gate are not clear. I Burrow comment 6/9/76.
Possibly the same as the Postern (PRN 00373) or Castle Gate (PRN 00422) [<1a>] or, more probably, the same as the barbican (PRN 00422), sitting on the north side of the castle ditch and crossed by a drawbridge <2>
