Description
Slight earthwork remains of field boundaries of uncertain date visible on lidar images. The remains appear as three perpendicular banks enclosing a sub-rectangular area on the western edge of Marton Pool. ( SJ2902_DSM_1) <1>
SJ 2904 0273. Possibly Medieval field boundaries are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and have been mapped by RCHME's Marches Uplands Mapping Project. These features may represent traces of a Medieval vill associated with the motte and bailey at Marton, known as The Mount (SJ 20 SE 3), which is located immediately to the east of the field boundaries. <2>
